Breast Implant Myths

woman breast for surgery of breast implant If you are considering breast implants, you have no doubt been doing some research. And with that research – especially when it is done on the internet – has probably come some horror stories about implants, as well as other things that just aren’t true. Here are some of the most common myths about breast implants, to answer some of your questions and (hopefully) ease some of your fears.

4+ breast implant myths

It is only right that you are doing research when trying to decide if you want implants or not, but it is also very easy to get information that is incorrect. Have you heard these myths about implants?

1. They don’t last very long and will have to be replaced in a few years. This isn’t true – implants are very durable and are made to last. There is no set expiration date for implants. Some women’s implants are just fine for decades.

2. Implants look fake and will be easy to spot. You might be hesitating to get implants because you are concerned they will be quite obvious. However, with the right plastic surgery techniques – and the right doctor performing them – you can have breasts that will look beautiful and natural.

3. Recovery from breast implant surgery is long and hard. Of course, it will take some time to recover (after all, it is a surgical procedure), and you will have some discomfort. However, most women say that the procedure and the recovery are not painful. Some women don’t even need prescription painkillers to manage any soreness; over-the-counter pain medication is enough.

4. Breast implants aren’t safe. This is probably the most widespread myth about implants – and also the scariest one. Hundreds of thousands of women have breast implants placed every year, and they have been proven to be safe. However, you should ask your doctor if you still have concerns.
