Breast augmentation
Breast implants will be obviously different than natural breasts.
There are several factors that are considered when planning and performing breast augmentation. No longer are women and their surgeons purposely choosing sizes and techniques that over-enhance the breasts. The goal of surgery is to create a shape and size that is in proportion with the rest of the body. So, while we do look at the size of the implant, we also consider how that size will look on the body.
Enlarging the breasts will cause them to sag.
Implants do not necessarily cause breasts to become heavier than they would be with all-natural breast tissue. Furthermore, sagging is the result of gravity and a loss of elasticity in the skin itself, which occurs with age. With proper support from an appropriate bra and muscle tone that stems from healthy exercise, the extent or timing of breast sag may be put off.
Breast implants will need to be replaced every 10 years.
While you may love the idea of more shapely breasts, you certainly don’t find the idea of lifetime maintenance appealing. We agree! Many women are under the false assumption that implants have a life span of only about a decade. In reality, there is no telling how long implants will remain completely viable from one patient to another. As long as you are happy with the shape and size of your breasts, and your implants are as soft as they should be, you have no reason to replace them. Many women have the same implants for decades.
