Make Sure CoolSculpting will do What You Want
The term “body-sculpting” is accurate when discussing CoolSculpting, but it may also present the opportunity for confusion. We want our patients to achieve the exact results they want from their chosen treatment so find it necessary to discuss the full capabilities and limitations of various modalities. CoolSculpting can recreate body contours. However, there is a limit to the amount of fat-reduction that will take place after treatment. Each session of fat-freezing can destroy approximately 20 percent of the fatty tissue in the target area, such as the abdomen or the thighs. This sounds like a lot but may translate into subtler results than expected. For larger areas and more substantial fat reduction, liposuction is still the gold-standard.
Another CoolSculpting detail that patients need to know is that freezing temperatures affect fat, not connective tissue or the skin. Therefore, skin laxity is a characteristic that needs to be observed before treatment. Fat reduction and lax skin are not an ideal combination because the first makes the latter appear worse.
Supporting Immediate and Long-Term Results
Massage is the first thing to happen after a CoolSculpting treatment. By gently manipulating tissue that has been severely cooled, we encourage the expedited breakdown of fat beneath the skin. After CoolSculpting, patients may also want to wear a light compression garment such as a waist trainer. This may improve comfort and encourage the body to take on the desired contours more quickly. Hydration is also a key factor in CoolSculpting results because water consumption facilitates fat elimination through the lymphatic system.
It is possible to continue enjoying better body contours long after CoolSculpting treatment. Long-term results are more probable when treatment is obtained as a complement to healthy eating and exercise habits.
