What Not to Do During Breast Augmentation Recovery

Breast Augmentation Reno, NV Women who visit our Reno office each have their own personal reasons for wanting breast augmentation. This procedure has been a leading cosmetic surgery for many years and has shown no sign of decline in popularity. Whether breast implants are placed to add curves where they never existed or to reinstate the voluptuous nature of a woman’s breasts after deflation doesn’t matter; research consistently reveals that breast augmentation can dramatically improve the way a woman feels in her skin.

We enjoy helping women step into the curves that have always existed in their mind’s eye. Additionally, we strive to facilitate the most pleasant experience from start to finish. Here, we point out a few critical things you don’t want to do too soon after breast augmentation.

  1. Wear that lacy bra that’s been calling your name. We get it; you’ve wanted your body to look a certain way for a long time, and now you have it. The nearest Victoria’s Secret has countless items with your name all over them. The thing is, you’re not ready just yet. For the first several weeks after surgery, your breasts need as much support as possible, and that means your best bet is to stay cradled in that compression bra. Soon enough, you will be able to trade that in for the exact silky or lacy bra you’ve been eyeing.
  2. Push your workouts. The recovery from breast augmentation is relatively mild. You may feel good sooner than you thought you would, and this might prompt you to want to hit your yoga mat or hit the gym for some mild weight training. Don’t. Wait at least until your post-surgical follow-up visit to be cleared for your desired activity. Working out or even lifting a small child puts a strain on the pectoral muscles, which could inhibit the proper formation of the capsule around your implants.
  3. Soak in the tub or jacuzzi. Water can be soothing, but it can also pose a risk for infection. Surgery patients are advised to avoid sitting in the tub or jacuzzi until their incisions have healed. This takes only a few weeks, after which time your doctor will likely clear you for all the bubble-baths you want.

We’d love to help you achieve the shape you feel at home in. Call our Reno office at (775) 826-4477 to learn more about breast augmentation.
