What is ThermiTight?
ThermiTight is a radiofrequency device, but one that works differently than other skin-tightening platforms. It doesn’t just deliver powerful radiofrequency to the skin, which we know stimulates collagen tightening and production, it sends that energy right where it is needed to have the biggest impact. The handheld applicator bypasses the epidermis to insert controlled heat into deeper layers of tissue.
Early radiofrequency devices worked through transducers placed over the skin. Because the skin is sensitive to heat, these devices were limited in the amount of energy they could deliver. ThermiTight’s delivery system, directly into the dermis, maximizes patient outcomes without increasing risks to the skin’s surface. The ThermiTight device also monitors tissue temperature via an internal thermistor. The provider sets the energy level according to the area being treated. In addition to internal temperature monitoring, the device has an infrared thermal camera that provides constant feedback regarding the temperature of the skin.
What Can Patients Expect?
The number one question most patients have about ThermiTight is if it hurts. After all, small punctures are made in the skin for energy to affect the dermis. Regardless of this technique, patients are comfortable throughout their procedure. This is achieved through appropriate anesthetic.The punctures are so small that they do not require stitches, and they heal right away. While patients may experience post-treatment swelling and redness, they are usually comfortable without pain medication.
The results of ThermiTight treatment occur gradually. Patients may begin to see the rejuvenating effects in about 30 days. Improvements continue to progress, though, for up to one year after just one treatment. Patients may schedule touch-ups every year or two to continue promoting optimal collagen production.
