Sculpt Those Common Trouble Spots
CoolSculpting has been a popular treatment for the elimination of what we love to call the “muffin top.” Because the fat-freezing technique is so frequently associated with abdominal fat-reduction, people may overlook the fact that CoolSculpting is pretty versatile. Over time, the device manufacturer designed multiple different applicators. With those, we can reduce unwanted fat on the upper and lower abdomen as well as the love handles, inner and outer thighs, arms, gluteal fold (banana roll), bra fat, back, chest, and under the chin.
The CoolSculpting Experience
Because CoolSculpting works by freezing fatty tissue, people often worry that their treatment will be uncomfortable. The device is completely non-invasive, so no anesthesia is necessary. To begin the procedure, the provider places a thin gel pad against the skin. This allows cold temperatures to pass through to the layer of subcutaneous fat without causing any damage. The reason CoolSculpting can work in this way is that fat freezes more easily than skin.
During the CoolSculpting session, patients can expect to feel the chill. For the first 10 minutes or so, the treatment can feel slightly uncomfortable. The area feels cold, then tingling and achy, then numb. Because tissue is held between two cooling panels, there is also an odd tugging sensation from the suction. None of these sensations are painful. They just take some getting used to before numbness sets in. From that point in the treatment, patients find it easy to sit back and relax with a show, a good book, or another form of entertainment.
